Psychotherapy Services
What is psychotherapy and how is it helpful?
Psychotherapy can be performed in a variety of settings and for diverse patients. Psychotherapy can be in an individual, couples, or group setting.
Psychotherapy for individuals is meant to provide a safe space to explore anxieties, fears, and difficulties in life that may be preventing you from living the life you would like to or creating movement in the direction you hope. It can help foster curiosity and insight while also providing the patient with coping skills such as mindfulness, acceptance, and cognitive restructuring. Psychotherapy looks different for everyone. I emphasize a flexible approach that is based on what is clinically warranted and the patient’s goals. I aim to provide a space for you to explore fantasies, dreams, and emotions.
Couples therapy is a space for the couple to share their difficulties in a validating and therapeutic environment. The couple can work through issues as they arise as well as improve communication skills to work through patterns that occur in the relationship.
Group therapy utilizes the group setting to develop understanding into interpersonal difficulties. By engaging the group members and incorporating the feedback from the group, people can improve personality difficulties and ways of relating to others.
I believe the psychotherapy is not necessarily for someone who has “problems,” but can be beneficial for anyone who wants to learn more about themselves and develop an understanding into repeated patterns and different problems of living.
